MHISHIP INNOVATION HUB: CONNECTING OUR COMMUNITY TO THE WORLD

From 60-80KM of travel for digital access to having global opportunities right at our doorstep.

It is with great joy and a deep sense of fulfilment that we celebrate a historic milestone for the Mhiship Nation and surrounding communities.

On 14 August 2026, Plateau State witnessed the launch and commissioning of the Mhiship Innovation Hub & Digital Media/Print Centre—a unique, community-driven digital transformation initiative made possible through the sacrifice, commitment and contributions of community members.

This is more than a computer centre.

It is a bridge between our rural communities and the global digital economy.

ðŸš€ WHAT THE MHISHIP INNOVATION HUB BRINGS

The newly commissioned hub is equipped with:

💻 40 Core i5 laptops
☀️ 15KVA solar power system
🌐 Gen 3 Starlink unlimited internet connectivity
🖨️ Digital media and printing services
🎓 Digital skills and talent development facilities
🌍 Access to global digital opportunities

The Hub will provide access to ICT training, research, online applications and registrations, job applications, digital services, printing, media production and other technology-enabled services.

Most importantly, it will create opportunities for young people in underserved communities to acquire digital skills without having to leave their communities.

CONNECTING MORE THAN MHISHIP

The impact will extend beyond Mhiship.

Young people and residents from neighbouring communities including Tal, Langkang, Jilik, Doka, Zomo and other surrounding communities can now have access to digital resources, training and internet-enabled opportunities much closer to home.

Before now, many students and community members had to travel approximately 60–80 kilometres to access reliable internet services, digital training and other technology-enabled opportunities—or travel to major urban centres such as Jos.

That reality is changing.

The Mhiship Innovation Hub is bringing the digital world closer to our people.

🤝 COMMUNITY VISION + TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

This achievement demonstrates what is possible when community vision, leadership, sacrifice and technical expertise come together.

The initiative is being driven under the leadership of the MCCDA Executive, through our celebrated President, CC Dapel Martins, with the appointment of Chief Koppe Sylvanus Joseph as ICT Consultant.

Chief Koppe brought the technical knowledge, digital strategy and implementation expertise behind the development of the Innovation Hub.

As the Founder of A+ Computer Training Technology Limited, an NBTE-approved Business Technology Incubation Centre, Chief Koppe has continued to champion digital inclusion, skills development and technology access—particularly for underserved communities.

His vision is simple but powerful:

No community should be left behind because of distance, lack of connectivity or lack of access to digital skills.

ðŸ›ï¸ A MOMENT OF GREAT SIGNIFICANCE

The Hub was commissioned in the presence of distinguished leaders and stakeholders, including:

Dr. Shurkuk, Honourable Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation,
the Honourable Commissioner for Finance,
HRH the Nda Long of Mhiship Nation,
traditional and district heads,
community leaders, critical stakeholders,
the MCCDA Executive,
and Chief Koppe Sylvanus Joseph, Chief ICT Consultant.

Their presence represents a shared recognition that digital inclusion is no longer a luxury—it is essential to the development of our communities.

 ðŸ’¡ THE BIGGER VISION

The Mhiship Innovation Hub is positioned to become a platform for:

✅ Digital skills development
✅ Youth talent development
✅ Online learning
✅ Remote work opportunities
✅ Research and innovation
✅ Job application support
✅ Entrepreneurship and digital business
✅ Online registrations and digital services
✅ Printing and media production
✅ Community digital literacy
✅ Connection to national and global opportunities

This is how we begin to export talent instead of exporting our young people.

This is how rural communities can participate in the global digital economy.

This is how we build an inclusive digital future.

 ðŸŒŸ A CALL FOR PARTNERSHIP

The work has only begun.

We invite government agencies, development organisations, NGOs, technology companies, telecommunications companies, financial institutions, corporate organisations, foundations, philanthropists and development partners to join us.

The next phase is to expand the Hub's capacity, introduce more advanced training programmes, support more young people with devices and skills, develop innovation programmes, create employment pathways and connect community talents to national and international opportunities.

Mhiship has provided the foundation.

Now, we invite partners to help us build the future.

Together, we can ensure that geography does not determine destiny.

Together, we can bridge the digital divide.

Together, we can connect Mhiship, Plateau State and underserved communities to the world.
